Permission to Reproduce Archive Materials

Request for Permission to Use Whitman Archive Materials for Commercial Purposes

You do not need permission to reproduce Archive materials for personal uses, such as school projects and assignments. In addition, the Walt Whitman Archive, edited by Ed Folsom and Kenneth M. Price, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, which allows others to distribute and adapt our work, so long as they credit the Whitman Archive, make their work available non-commercially, and distribute their work under the same terms. For commercial uses, complete and submit the form below. We will respond to your request via email as soon as possible, typically within a few days. All fields are required unless explicitly labelled as optional.

Note that this form is only for materials for which The Walt Whitman Archive claims copyright, such as the biography of Whitman and other texts originally published on the site and our TEI and XSLT files. Requests for permission to use materials for which others hold intellectual or property rights should be made directly to the contributors, listed here.
