A printed proof of "Thou Mother with Thy Equal Brood," which was published first in 1881, with heavy corrections in Whitman's hand. The poem is a revision of "As a Strong Bird on Pinions Free," which was delivered at the Dartmouth College Commencement on June 26, 1872.
