WALT WHITMAN'S CAUTION.

To The States, or any one of them, or any city of The
         States, Resist much, obey little;
Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved;
Once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city, of this earth,
         ever afterward resumes its liberty.
